Pain and Gain

Damn, it's been a while since I updated here, and between the end of November and now, it has been busy, exciting, and painful! The last month has been hard, as I suffered from a pinched nerve in my back, which, for a week, made life agonising, and my right arm has suffered neuropathy since then. It's improving, and I can exercise again, but it is hard going and will just take some time.

Work

Perhaps the most exciting bit with work has been a glowing full-year progress review, which bodes well for promotion, etc. So I am really looking forward to the year ahead at work with more responsibilities and pushing on with some new Machine Learning features. Of course it is a wild time with "AI", and care needs to be taken with these tools. In coding there are the horror stories of it deleting repositories, or creating code that is unknowable and riddled with security issues.

Freelance Work

Off the back of more work for C7, the good news is that Shards of Ul-Khari will be part of a hard copy compilation of scenarios.

There is further good news that should mean projects will push along a bit more, but nothing concrete can be said right now. Just more planning. Nothing else is planned for now, and honestly, with events coming up, a break from writing is always welcome.

Hobby

I cracked out a good amount of minis over the last few months. I finished my Old Umbrey army for the most part (I have a Warlock still to paint), painted up the starter set of the Crucible Guard (see up top), and Deathjack - perhaps my favourite model of the Cryx range. I also picked up some explosion effects to use in shots, creating really dynamic images. I've been playing plenty of Warmachine, getting the local players at the club used to larger games, and prepping for a Journeyman League the moment the rules pack drops for that.

Speaking of which!

In this episode, I interview Mat Hart and Sherwin Matthews of Steamforged Games about the upcoming casual and narrative games pack. Meanwhile, I have appeared on 3 different podcasts!

The other should be out next month. Of course, coming up are demo events at Krkurcon, Chillcon, Lead and Steel, and I will be going to Lock and Load EU in Sheffield in May. That's a quick round-up as I feel my arm is giving out a bit (I can do my day job, but after that, typing too long gets painful).
